About the Nanaimo-Ladysmith EDA
The EDA is comprised of members of the federal wing of the New Democratic Party of Canada. It is governed, under the The Constitution & Bylaws of the Nanaimo-Ladysmith New Democratic Party Electoral District Association and, on a day to day basis, is run by an Executive made up of volunteers. These volunteers stand for election annually at the EDA’s Annual General Meeting.
If you are interested in joining the Nanaimo-Ladysmith EDA executive first you must become a member of the Federal NDP and then click here to submit an expression of interest.
What We Do
The EDA’s main job is to bring Party members together to support the Federal NDP’s goals. This means raising funds to keep the EDA running smoothly and to power election campaigns. It’s also about connecting with members and local activists to highlight community concerns and bring them to the Federal Party through Federal Council and Conventions.
Get Involved
As NDP members, progressives, and community activists we believe together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive community and work toward the Canada we all believe in. It’s a vision rooted in compassion, fairness, and the belief that together, we can create a better future for all Canadians. We would love to meet you and encourage you to sign up to volunteer.

We deeply appreciate every donation and take great care in tracking each dollar to ensure it’s used effectively. That said, we’ve noticed some confusion about how to make sure your contributions reach us directly. Let’s clear that up for you.
How Do Local Donations Work?
When you donate through our local EDA donation link or send a cheque directly to the EDA, your contribution stays right here in the community. It helps us fund election campaigns and support the re-election of our local candidate, ensuring your dollars make a direct impact where it matters most.

What is a PAC?
We encourage monthly, pre-authorized contributions (PACs) because they help us steadily grow our fund and prepare for upcoming elections. By donating this way, your contributions go straight to the EDA bank account, giving us the ability to plan effectively—and letting us thank you personally, since we know exactly who’s supporting us!
I Have a PAC but haven’t heard from you!
If you think you’ve already set up a PAC but haven’t heard from us, here’s the reason: when a PAC is created through the Federal NDP Donate Now site, the EDA isn’t immediately notified. While we do eventually receive your contributions, it’s not until the following year. This delay makes planning challenging and, more importantly, prevents us from thanking you directly for your support.
